Leisure Theory: New Divide + samxemma + Fake Wife

  • 8.30pm
  • Band on the Wall, Manchester
  • £7

Creating a unique blend of heavy electronic indie pop, Leisure Theory is the project of Irish producer, Jake Smith.
After releasing debut single Gambler in 2018, Smith released a series of extended plays:
2019’s This Is My Password, 2020’s Deliverance and 2021’s Momentary Ordinary.
Inspired by listening to an unholy amount of Kraftwerk during summer 2022, Smith realised that to combat writer’s block, the best place to start from was the beginning.

The result – “A Joy, Pleasure, A Privilege” the fourth EP from Leisure Theory, out now.
A return to the original mission statement of creating heavier, sequencer-led tracks that fizz with energy and a newfound urgency.
Receiving airplay on BBC Introducing Manchester, BBC Northern Ireland, Amazing Radio and becoming a Fresh Fave of BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson; Leisure Theory have been playing shows across the north of England including notable supports with Porij and Rachel K Collier before returning home to Derry, Ireland for a run of sold-out homecoming shows.

Leisure Theory play Band on the Wall on 14th December, playing a special Christmas show.
