Since her 2002 Mercury Music Prize nomination, Kathryn Williams has gone from strength to strength, releasing a string of acclaimed albums that have confirmed her as an extraordinary talent within the singer/songwriter genre. She now enters the next decade with a new band and a stunning new album The Quickening.
Citing her influences as Nina Simone, Nick Drake, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, The Velvet Underground and Stevie Smith, her restrained, sometimes spartan arrangements gradually reveal complex and beautiful songs of great emotional depth and intelligence. Having recently toured with Robyn Hitchcock and KT Tunstall, this 2010 tour sees her and her new band explore fresh and exciting musical territory. Support comes tonight comes from the incredible former Goya Dress singer Astrid Williamson whose voice has been compared to Sinead O’Connor‘s. Prepare yourself for a truly beautiful evening at The Band.
This concert will begin at 8pm.
