The Atom Live Convention comes to a close with a very special concert featuring Manchester’s most hotly-tipped new artists who have been making serious waves over the last year.
Manchester-based singer-songwriter Karima Francis was voted the No 1 act to watch out for last year by Observer Music Monthly. So far she has proved them right – producing her acclaimed debut album The Author last year and packing venues wherever she plays. Also on tonight’s bill are the gorgeous Manchester 4-piece I Am Blackbird and Seerauber Jenny. Following their hit set at last year’s Glastonbury and a successful sojourn to New York, I Am Blackbird bring their country-flecked sound dripping with luscious vocals, plucked guitar and brushed drums to The Band. Seerauber Jenny is a project conceived by FranBarker, a singer/songwriter from Wiltshire. Following radio play on BBC6, Seeräuber Jenny was cherry-picked to play at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend Fringe Festival and is now creating quite the hoo-ha with audiences across the country.
