Week 1 of a 10 week course
Under the direction of saxophone legend Munch Manship Band on the Wall’s long running and popular jazz group continues it’s exploration of the jazz repertoire for another ten sessions plus a full evening performance on stage in the legendary venue on Sunday 18th November.
Jazz Foundations offers a chance to blow through and rehearse new arrangements of great compositions in a mixture of jazz styles from Miles Davis and Ornette Coleman to Tom Harrell, Stan Kenton and Benny Carter. Munch’s specially devised and arranged charts are adapted to suit any instrumentation and offer solo opportunities for all the group. Sessions take place in a friendly and supportive atmosphere in the Education Rooms above the Main Venue. New members welcome, all ages*, especially low brass players. Some reading skills are necessary for horn players and keyboards and would be useful (but not essential) for bass, guitar and drums.
