Band on the Wall presents a series of free entry gigs and DJ sets on our second stage, located to the rear of our brand new bar. We’ll be shining a light on our favourite emerging artists across all genres with a diverse programme of global sounds from, and inspired by, the music of cultures from around the world.

J2oh are an eclectic jazz-fused duo based in North England, with Jenny Walinetski (UK jazz scene) on drums and Jemma Freese (Maximo Park, J Frisco) on keys and vocals. Their energetic and epic sound comes from a fusion of hip-hop/trap/dnb/electronic and contemporary jazz, using cross signatures, melodic phrasing, rhythmic hooks, complex harmony and vocal soundbites to create their sound. Each composition is rooted in improvisation, which is part of their creative process and is also how the two met. Influences include; Floating Points, Gretchen Parlato, Yussef Kamaal, Portico Quartet, Slowly Rolling Camera and Richard Spaven. Jenny and Jemma met at Key of She (an improvisation night in Sheffield) and have been playing together since then.
