Presenting Inner City Waves #13 – a free-entry showcase of some of our favourite local emerging urban artists, featuring Jerome Thomas, Berry Blacc, Aaliyah Esprit, Heavy Lemo, JAXN & DJ Toucan.
A true genre-defying artist- Jerome Thomas is best known for his distinct, soothing sound, which samples various genres of music from Soul and Jazz to Jungle, R&B and Hip Hop.
Berry Blacc returns to Inner City Waves. Berry Blacc is a vocalist and producer from the rain soaked streets of Manchester. The son of two DJs has toured with heavyweights such as Werkha (Tru Thoughts), Red Eye Hifi (Nice Up) and most recently The Mouse Outfit. He recently released his self produced, 17 track albm ‘From Maia’ and has since been working on another project with his very own Hip-Hop/Soul/Jazz band W_vy/Ch_ld (Wavy Child). From Cyphering with Kendrick Lamar to running community based projects for young people, Berry Blacc is a humble artist with a lot to give and a lot more to come!
Aaliyah Esprit has had an incredible 12 months. Originally from Nottingham, she has since planted foundations in both Bristol and Manchester; splitting her time between both cities. In 2017, she put together a full live band with which she supported Denai Moore. Also, now an integral part of the Cosmic Soul Collective, Aaliyah has just been announced as a pupil of the highly sought- after Future Bubblers programme created by Gilles Peterson and the Brownswood label.
Heavy Lemo are a funk/jazz/hip-hop band from Liverpool. Their music is laid-back but still tight and grippy.
JAXN soulful electronic pop merchant from Manchester who recently dropped a new EP and a cracking remix of Aquilo’s ‘Sorry’.
This is a standing show.
