It’s Jive Time! Band on the Wall’s hugely popular over-50s club and live music night, My Generation, gets ‘In The Mood’ for a very special 1940’s themed extravaganza.

Featuring live music from the wonderful jazz swing group Quintessential, plus all your favorite classic swing, jive and boogie woogie tunes played by DJ Coops, its time to don your zoot suits and put on your posh frocks for a night of dancefloor jiving and a fantastic fun night out at Band on the Wall. Feel free to dress up in 40s and 50s clothes and at just £4 to get in you can afford leave your ration books at home! 

Quintessential Swing Band with Debbie Wilson (8pm)


Quintessential are one of the top swing bands performing in the UK specialising in the classic 1940s and 50s songs made famous by artistes such as Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and more recently Jamie Cullum and Norah Jones.  Starring the superb Debbie Wilson & Adam Hutchins, expect all the old favorites and more as they invite you to take to the dancefloor or simply take a seat and enjoy well known swing standards such as Fly Me To The Moon, Lady Is A Tramp, Take The A Train, It Had To Be You and Mack The Knife!

Local History Talk By Steve Little (6pm)

We are delighted to announce a fascinating talk by local historian Steve Little from 6pm. Find out what was happening at Band on the Wall and in Manchester during the 1940s and 50s. Steve is a real expert and his knowledge will give you a real insight into the city’s bygone days.

The first live performance will begin at 7.45pm but the DJs will be playing from 7pm and our Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open from 5.30pm for drinks and more.

This night is aimed at the over-50s and their friends. 

The evening is presented by My Generation Social Scene with support from Manchester Cultural Strategy Team, Valuing Older People and the Great Manchester Community Foundation
