GM Music Hub presents the Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra and Bury Youth Big Band (directed by Richard Iles).
The best in youth music education in the region!
Over the years, Greater Manchester has produced some of the finest jazz talent in the UK though its network of educational ensembles across the region.
The Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra brings together the very best young musicians from the local youth jazz orchestras to form a truly wonderful big band. The orchestra gives those players – featuring BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year, saxophonist Alexander Bone – a chance to develop their skills in an environment of like-minded young musicians, playing known classics through to new compositions by the band’s Musical Director Richard Iles.
The Bury Youth Big Band is made up of pupils from Bury Music Centre, a place that has influenced the lives of countless youngsters over the past thirty five years. Indeed, some past students now play in national orchestras, e.g. The Halle, Liverpool Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Wales.
For a chance to hear two great big bands on one night and support the next generation of jazz and big band talent in our region, this is a show not to be missed.
The Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open beforehand for delicious food and drinks.
