Tell us this; what else could you possibly be doing that is more fun than dancing the night away to SEVEN musical acts, gathered before Christmas for your enjoyment!?
That’s right; Band On The Wall is opening its doors to you and your friends in aid of a Christmas get-together with the Global Grooves crew. Join us to substitute sherry for Samba and mincepies for Maracatu as we set fire to your Christmas stockings with blistering beats from around the globe.
This evening of musical treats includes performances from:
Sambangra – The return of Manchester’s very best cross cultural drum dance fusion group.
Brinnington Arts and Music (BAM) – Storming Brazilian percussion ensemble.
Republic of Swing – Smokin’ Rio style Sambafunk outfit.
As well as these three percussion and dance acts, there will be a special guest performance of full-on festive flamenco-style guitar and percussion with the locally renowned Acoustic Conquistador.
What? There’s more!? To complete the theme of Global Grooves’ continued percussion, dance, and song workshops ………, this evening will culminate in an assault for the senses! Since October, Global Grooves have delivered a number of short courses, and several of these groups will showcase their new work at the Shindig!
Pernambucan Percussion with Holly Prest – a 30-piece percussion and song journey around the Northeast of Brazil.
Candomblé with Jon Hardeman – traditional songs and drumming from Bahia and beyond.
Carnival Rhythms of the Bateria with Raz Jayasuriya – a mass band performance not to be missed.
DJ’s sets from RHYTHMIX – World Party Set
Why not look into our weekend master classes that are also happening at Band On The Wall on Sat 10th and Sun 11th December.
