Band on the Wall recommends…Gabriel Garzon-Montano Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Gabriel Garzon-Montano is making waves in international music with his stylish RnB sound, rich and rhythmic with emphasis on groove and soulful keys work. The company he keeps reflects the quality of his work; touring with Lenny Kravitz last year and appearing on mainstage European festival bills alongside acts like George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Moodymann, Roni Size and SBTRKT. With the release of his ‘Bishouné: Alma del Huila’ EP last year, he reached a new hip hop audience, as he was sampled by Canadian rapper Drake for his track ‘Jungle’ which appeared on ‘If you’re reading this then it’s too late’. His live performances expose the rhythm and soul of his music, while retaining the energy displayed on the EP which so impressed Drake. His show at Band on the Wall is FREE ENTRY, and support on the night comes from Manchester’s Pieces of a Man, returning after they blew the crowd away supporting Jarrod Lawson here in May (even Jarrod himself was praising of the band!). DJ Loz Goddard keeps the music going throughout the night, with a selection of 2-step, funky disco cuts, rnb infused hip hop and much more – think Max Graef and the Box Aus Holz crew, Razor-N-Tape edits, Moodymann and maybe some cuts of his own! The Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open beforehand for delicious food and drinks.
