Band on the Wall presents Free Jazz – a free-entry event showcasing some of the most exciting new artists pushing genre boundaries, playing jazz, electronic, hip-hop, funk, soul and experimental sounds. Sign up for free entry and discover new music from the likes of Täpp, Nishla, Aging and Slims.

Täpp
Featuring Rebekah Reid – Violin + Polly Virr – Cello, TÄPP are a dynamic and experimental string duo creating music without end. No limits. No boundaries.

Nishla
Nishla is an Australian jazz singer/songwriter, now based in Manchester. In January this year, she performed as part of MONA’s Summer Jazz Festival in Australia, before returning to the UK to revive her self-devised show ‘Cabaret: A Show About The End Of Love’ with string quartet Manchester Collective for the PUSH festival. She is an artist for Sofar Sounds in Manchester and London, and has performed her originals live on BBC’s Intune. In March 2018, Nishla became one of the Manchester Jazz Festival’s Hothouse talent development artists. She will be performing an original set at the festival in July, before beginning a summer residency at Sage Gateshead in August. Nishla is working on a debut record.

Aging
After a 3 year absence, Tombed Visions founder David McLean finally reemerges with his Aging project, assembling a small jazz quartet to play loose, slow burning improvised torch songs that sounds like they was recorded in a smoke filled dive bar in the wrong part of town, the players becoming more and more inebriated throughout their set.

This is a standing show.
