Band on the Wall presents Free Jazz – a free-entry event showcasing some of the most exciting new artists pushing genre boundaries, playing jazz, electronic, hip-hop, funk, soul and experimental sounds. Come down and discover new music from the likes of Nick Lockewood, Maruja, Enki and Ben Haskins Quartet. Entry is free, so come on down. Nick Lockewood
With his training acquired at various institutions including Leeds College of Music’s (Jazz degree) and a Master of Music at the Royal Northern College of Music, Nick has been working professionally in the various realms of music since 2005. His passion for music began much earlier, back in the bands and musical theatre performances of his school life.
Maruja
‘A fusion of funk, reggae, jazz, hip hop and rap with high energy sets and trippy guitar melodies held together by philosophical political lyricism’.
Enki
Enki are a Manchester-based modern jazz quartet.
Ben Haskins Quartet
Ben Haskins’ quartet play original compositions as well as a selection of favourite standards. The music draws influence from great trio guitarist such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Abercrombie and Jim Hall.
This is a standing show.
10+. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
