‘Spine-tingling’ – Roddy Hart, BBC Radio Scotland
‘Excellent’ – Gideon Coe, BBC 6Music

Self-discovery simmers with truth unearthed in songs that seethe with tenderness, anger and startling leaps of joy and optimism. Dominie Hooper, long-time session musician, collaborator and multi-instrumentalist steps to centre stage wrapped in musical alchemy with bandmate mainstays Phil Self, Twm Dylan and Dave Hamblett. Fresh from a UK tour supporting This Is The Kit, the band strikes out for a headline tour of their own this April. Conjuring a heavier sound-world that steps away from her folk roots, Hooper’s latest single ‘Hastings’ (produced by This Is The Kit’s Kate Stables), points to a distorted alt-rock meets dream-pop body of work, fronted by her distinctive vocals that effortlessly oscillate between vulnerability and explosive fierceness. With an increasingly busy schedule for 2024, and murmurs of a debut album in the works, now’s the time to catch Dominie Hooper live. With an unexpectedly joyful stage presence that makes you feel in the company of an old friend, the on-stage connection with her band is undeniable. Prepare for a hug and a punch in the gut.

Lydy May

Underground globetrotter Lydy May celebrates her return to her homeland of Manchester following collaborations that have seen her gain over 4 million plays on Spotify. This streaming success led to performances in front of thousands at events like Glastonbury, and with new music bubbling up behind the scenes Lydy’s upward trajectory looks set to continue. With music heavily influenced by neo-soul, r&b and funk, Lydy May’s rich and emotive voice lifts the listener up and inspires devotion. An instinctive musician who creates from the heart, her mantra is “I just do it because I love it”, and that comes through in the music. For this performance she will be joined by Matt Ratcliff on guitar for a stripped down and passionate performance.
