PETER SPENCE

At the top of the game when it comes to lovers rock, Peter Spence has had hits since the 80’s, and is still in the race releasing tunes on labels like Peckings, Stingray and Friendly Fire Music, as well as his new album Peter Spence and Friends on Sidewalk Entertaiment label featuring artists such as Tippa Irie, Lloyed Brown, Apache Indian and more..  His smooth crooner voice is as powerful on roots riddims as it is on lovers, and has been described as “melted caramel chocolate gently poured into your ears”.

BONITO STAR

In 86, Bonito Star released a version of the beatles’ “Can’t buy my Love”, on the Sweet Reggae Music riddim with Stafford Douglas (Mafia Tone)  that quickly became a classic, and he has released many singles and albums, making him a Handsworth legend. His charm and energy on stage matches the passion he delivers in his singing.

LION ART

A musical warrior on a mission, Lion Art represents the younger generation of artists. with an unmatchable energy that never fails to ignite the stage. His single Badness released in 2010 has been played around the world and remixed in many genres.

PABLO RIDE

Having toured with UB40 and appearing on their Bag of Riddim album, as well as sharing stages with Maka B and Pato Banton in the 80s, Pablo Rider is the fastest mouth in the west midlands, with his inimitable toaster style mixing humour and consciousness in his lyrics.

NATURAL MYSTIC

Natural Mystic is a veteran in the tradition of 70s roots music ,and his magical stage presence has earned him his name.

FRENDLY FIRE BAND

The Friendly Fire Band is Birmingham’s most active reggae/dancehall live outfit. As well as being the band of choice to back visiting artists in Birmingham such as Dawn Penn, YT, Murray Man, Daddy Freddy and others, they are actively recording and releasing music on a regular basis including the current Badness Riddim set of 7″ singles.

This event will begin at 9pm but our Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open much earlier for good times and sweet vibes.
