‘Sides’ is the sophomore release of the steadily-rising Paris-based, UK pianist and composer, Dave Bristow and his quintet. The album explores the growth of an artist in a society fractured by post-pandemic socio economic uncertainty and political ambiguity. The music aims to reflect the confusion of these times, through its winding and chaotic improvisations but also offers hope, structure and solace through its accessible melodies and tightly structured compositions. Featuring the talents of Christian Altehülshorst/Olivia Cuttill (clearing up this as quickly as possible), Félix Hardouin, Gabriel Pierre, Guillaume Prévost, this forward-thinking oeuvre aims to leave its own unique indelible imprint on the European and international jazz scenes alike.
