Choir of Outsiders: Eamon Fogarty + Georgie Buchanan

Choir of Outsiders is a North West based music promoter specialising in contemporary and experimental folk. Come join the chorus on our bar stage.

Eamon Fogarty (US)

Eamon Fogarty is a composer, songwriter, arranger, singer, and multi-instrumentalist who was born in the state of New Hampshire. Aquarium Drunkard described his 2019 record Blue Values as “a remarkable piece of art-pop, exhibiting the low slung ease of Tim Buckley’s jazz-rock, the shambolic grace of Beck, the progressive grandeur of Scott Walker, and the mystic yearning of Talk Talk.”

He has written for, recorded, and performed in a broad range of capacities and contexts, including numerous folk and rock bands, (Alex Dupree, Psychic Temple, Matt Kivel) choral groups, free improvisatory ensembles, puppet theater productions, and even a surf video or two.

Georgie Buchanan

“This is beautiful, subtle and sophisticated folk music. Ethereal yet rooted. I can’t wait to hear more from Georgie Buchanan.” – Miranda Sykes (Show of Hands)

Inspired by voyages to the Outer Hebrides, tales of ancient Celtic Goddesses and great folk singers from Peggy Seeger to Joni Mitchell, Georgie Buchanan is a unique singer and harpist on the contemporary folk scene.

Hailing from the North Shore Mountains of Canada and the Chiltern Hills, Georgie has always felt most at home creating music in the rich landscapes of the natural world. Since immersing herself in the folk world she’s performed with Show of Hands on the main stage of Sidmouth Folk Festival, been selected for Sound and Music’s highly competitive New Voices Programme and had one of her original songs ‘Love is a Rocking Wave’ played on The Nest Collective’s ‘Singing with Nightingales, Homecoming Broadcast’ hosted by Sam Lee.

In 2021 Georgie was selected to take part in the English Folk Expo’s Artist Mentoring Programme and has performed at Focus Wales and Cambridge Folk Festival. In 2022 she supported renowned folk acts Ye Vagabonds, Katherine Priddy and John Francis Flynn.

Georgie will be performing music from her debut album ‘Wise as a Fool’. Interweaving traditional melodies with original compositions, songs and stories, Georgie’s music speaks of a heartfelt connection with the natural world and charts a personal story of recovery that is relatable at its core.
