Inner City Music present Chetham’s Big Bands at Band on the Wall.
Formed in 1990, Chetham’s Big Bands enjoys success on the national jazz scene and has broadcast on Jazz FM and the BBC from London’s Golders Green Hippodrome and Birmingham’s Pebble Mill Studios. They have won many awards including the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Competition, the Gold Award at the Boosey and Hawkes National Concert Band Festival on numerous occasions and the Junior Section of the BBC Radio 2 Big Band of the Year Competition in 1996, 2000 and 2005.
Chetham’s Big Bands and Jazz Ensembles have worked with such eminent jazz musicians as Don Lusher, Bobby Shew, Gwilym Simcock, Mark Nightingale, Jiggs Wigham, John Dankworth, Tim Garland, Frank Mantooth, Pete King, Bob Mintzer, Malcolm Creese, Jim Hart, Paul Clarvis, Alan Barnes, Kenny Baker and John Escreet.
The debut performance at the Band on the Wall features both Chetham’s Big Bands and a number of Jazz Ensembles presenting a magical evening of great charts performed by the students from the internationally renowned Chetham’s School of Music.
