Bruno Berle is a composer, poet, and multi-instrumentalist from Maceió, Alagoas, on Brazil’s northeastern coast. With a voice of pure gold and a startling sensitivity for heartfelt pop songwriting, he is a leading figure in a wave of artists from Brazil’s Northeast now captivating international audiences with their mercurial mélange of MPB magic, indie idealism, beguiling bossa nova, and quiet-storm R&B.

Berle’s 2022 debut album No Reino Dos Afetos (In the Realm of Affections), released via Far Out Recordings, brought together starry-eyed Brazilian love songs, ambient vignettes, and warm, home-cooked beats. “It’s an album that was built from my desire to find beauty,” Bruno explained – his simple, graceful words mirroring the quiet elegance of the music itself. Co-produced with his longtime friend and collaborator Batata Boy (Leonardo Costa Acioli), also from Maceió, and drawing upon a close-knit community of Northeastern artists and musicians, the album catapulted Berle to international recognition, with his sound likened to Frank Ocean, Djavan, and João Gilberto. Beyond his own records, Berle has become a vital creative force within Brazil’s contemporary music world.
