Back by popular demand – another course exploring blues forms, styles and techniques for all blues instruments and vocalists with tuition from blues aces Mat Walklate and Paolo Fuschi. The duo offer new songs to learn as a group and revisit some favourites from their Summer and Autumn courses.
This eight-week programme is aimed at intermediate to advanced players (guitar, bass, drums, harmonica, keyboard, melody instruments and singers). To get the most from this course, participants should be confident players with at least two years of playing experience, but previous blues experience is not necessary.
We can also offer the group a performance opportunity in the Picturehouse bar at Band on the Wall at the end of the course. Date and times to be confirmed.
“Brilliant. The tutors were experts and they communicated and interacted with us so I developed my skills of singing and playing blues and my understanding of the music. Superb!”
“An opportunity to learn to play/sing music from the early days of Roots and Blues music – and to learn where the music originated from and what influenced it. The course also gives confidence in singing solo.” – Course participants
The course covers a variety of classic styles from Chicago to Texas and the West Coast including Country Blues and Rhythm and Blues exploring repertoire from blues legends such as Jimmy Reed, BB King, Albert King and many more.
Mat Walklate (Harmonica, guitar and vocals) and Paolo Fuschi (guitar and vocals) share a passion for blues music and have performed and recorded together since 2014 receiving rave reviews along the way.
