Combining Azymuth-esc melodic grace with complex, world influenced groove construction – normally synonymous with larger instrumental ensembles like Snarky Puppy – provides the perfect bedrock for extensive and explorative solo sections, more reminiscent of Keith Jarrett’s piano performances than any modern trio. In this respect, Manchester-based trio Big Enough Umbrella is a true product of it’s musica diet.
Their accomplished individual craft and tight onstage chemistry has garnered the attention and mentorship of jazz greats Jason Rabello (Sting, Jeff Beck), Renato “Massa” Calmon (Azymuth, Marcos Valle) and Dominic Miller (Sting, Phil Collins,ECM).
“it’s rare to find drummers in the U.K. who can groove like that” – Dominic Miller (Sting,ECM)
