Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who blends soul, gospel, R&B and jazz in her signature mix.

Rooted in gospel, she reaches deep into that cornucopia of styles and sounds and sings songs which articulate the complexities of life with a luminous and telling insight. Fluent in many musical languages from soul and house, to classical and hip hop, this is not a show to miss.

Before releasing her debut album in 2010, Avery had already built up an impressive list of credits; after starting her musical career as a choir leader, she went on to supply vocals for Paramount Picture’s The Fighting Temptations, was sought out by Jennifer Holiday to be choral director for the theatrical production of DREAMGIRLS, and starred in I Dream, directed by Jasmine Guy, a musical theatre production based on the life of Martin Luther King.

Since starting her solo career, Avery*Sunshine has shared the stage with Ledisi, Kem, Musiq Soulchild, Eric Benet, Rachelle Ferrell, as well as performing on Later…With Jools Holland and opening for BB King at The Royal Albert Hall. In 2010, Avery won Best New Artist at the Reader’s Choice Awards.
