  • Band on the Wall, Manchester

Acoustic Bhuna is Band On The Wall’s acoustic showcase evening, playing host to some of the very best acoustic music that the North West has to offer.
Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, between 6 and 10pm, you will be able to see three of the regions finest acts playing for FREE in the cosy setting of Band On The Wall’s Picturehouse Cafe-Bar.

Brazilian, Pelotas-born guitarist and vocalist, Luciano Gerber is renowned for his cosmopolitan fusion of Brazilian musics – a blend of folk, bossa nova, milonga and samba, with flavourings of Arabic Music and Flamenco. In the past 8 years, he has appeared with some of Manchester’s greatest musicians and at top venues including Manchester Jazz Festival, Matt and Phred’s, Contact Theatre, Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Exchange.

Bright, airy and uplifting, Luciano exudes a natural radiance and Brazilian sunshine – perfectly at home in the limelight while warming audiences with a impressive vocal ability and a versatile strumming over a wide range of rhythms and feels. A real joy to behold!

Glass Ankle is the brainchild of Manchester-based Songwriter, Greg Jackson. The band’s sound encompasses soaring melodies, impeccable boy-girl harmonies, oozing guitar and synth passages, and subtle experimentalism.

Having been around on the Manchetser scene since 2010, Glass Ankle have gained an impressive reputation for their distinctive and eclectic style, leading to comparisons with a diverse range of artists, including Yo La Tengo, Beach House, Gomez, Tunng, Belle and Sebastian, and 13-era Blur.

A real favourite on the Manchester acoustic and open mic circuits, Sobi is a singer-songwriter who is really beginning to make her mark. With a crystal-clear voice that will draw you in instantly, and simple, beautifully written songs that leave you feeling like you’ve known them forever.

Doors open at 5pm. FREE ENTRY.

As a perfect accompaniment to the live music, you can tuck into one of Chef Giles’ fresh, home made curries, made with locally sourced ingredients and a whole lot of love. And why not wash it all down with a refreshing pint of cask ale from our sponsors, Green Mill Brewery?
