Regulars at Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul club will no doubt be familiar with funk septet The Haggis Horns and their counterparts from the North East, Smoove & Turrell. Both have made live appearances at the club night in addition to shows in support of their latest studio releases, and each are highly regarded by the broadcaster and funk purveyor, who sees to their regular airplay on his 6 Music show.
Now on the cusp of releasing their fourth studio album and second on their own imprint, the Internationally renowned Haggis Horns have hit us with a lethal combination; a brand new single plus a collection of tasty reworks, including one from producer Smoove aka Jonathan Scott Watson.
The rework raises the tempo of the radio-edited single (which we’ll hear the mighty eight minute version of on the LP/CD), bracing it with programmed rhythms and making its gorgeous strings yet more ethereal with some absorbent reverb.
