Band on the Wall is delighted to announce that it has been awarded core funding from Arts Council England for the next four years. Cementing its status as a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) during this period, this funding will enable Inner City Music Limited, the registered charity that owns and operates Band on the Wall, to realise its ongoing charitable objectives. Band on the Wall will continue to bring world-class artists to Manchester and across the UK, and this funding will allow it to further its work with local musicians, young people and its education partners.
Being awarded NPO status is a recognition of the successes the organisation has seen since re-opening the venue in 2009, and its ambitions plans for growth in the future.
Gavin Sharp, CEO, Inner City Music said: “Band on the Wall’s core mission is to bring non-mainstream artists from around the world to Manchester, and to be a place where the musicians of tomorrow can learn, collaborate and be inspired. The venue is a unique cultural asset and to have our ongoing work recognised once again by Arts Council England will allow us to continue to work with even more international artists, aspiring musicians and young people.”
Band on the Wall has been a cornerstone of Manchester’s thriving music and cultural landscape for the greater part of a century. Its mission is to promote equality and diversity through music and to bring leading artists from around the world to the stage – both at our award-winning Manchester venue and nationally, through touring programmes and trailblazing creative music projects.
