February is LGBT History Month, and it’s particularly pertinent as it marks the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality. We’re thrilled to welcome back Manchester’s finest queer cabaret night A Queer Revue! as they celebrate LGBT history month with a huge party on Friday 17th, as part of the annual Queer Contact Festival.
The night features a star-studded lineup, showcasing the best in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender arts and culture. Manchester’s loud and proud film club Make A Scene take over the Picturehouse with a wild interactive visual spectacular, the much-loved ‘Dragapella’ contest makes a welcome return as glamorous trans make-up artist Grace Oni Smith hosts the drag queen singing showdown with former ‘Dragapella’ winner Monopoly Phonic on the judging panel. Drunk At Vogue then bring the discotheque with epic disco and house music until the early hours.
Following on from December’s huge party, AQR! joins the excellent Queer Contact Festival lineup, an eight-day celebration of LGBT arts and culture, produced by Manchester’s multi-arts community theatre, Contact. The festival is now in its ninth year, check out their full programme here.
