Moon Duo’s new record Occult Architecture Vol. 1 is to be released this Friday via Sacred Bones records and ahead of the release, the band have shared a new animated video for the track Cold Fear.
Created by animator Michah Buzan, it takes the viewer on a trip through a variety of bizarre and colourful scenes, with eyes being a recurring visual motif. As he explains ‘I had 5 weeks to make 5 minutes of animation. Being a one-man-studio, one minute of animation can easily take me 100 hours to produce. The main objective was to create visuals that matched the paranoid energy of Moon Duo’s song. There is a theme in my animation of growth and decay, which mirrors Moon Duo’s Yin and Yang concept from their new work.’
In their recent review of Occult Architecture Vol. 1, Treble stated: ‘Moon Duo have delivered their strongest record to date, a modern psych rock record infused with just enough avant-garde, post-punk, goth and coldwave influences to show they’ve been listening to the state of things over the past five years or so.’
