Jazz North today opens the application portal for the latest roster of northern line – their flagship scheme for touring which gives promoters the opportunity to programme high quality artists with low financial risk.
Since its launch in 2013, Northern Line has featured 47 Ambassador Artists who have performed over 450 gigs with 150 promoters and partners across the North of England and beyond.
Selected by an independent panel of musicians, promoters and industry experts, artists recruited to the next round of Northern Line will benefit from subsidised performance fees, ongoing professional development including a one-day intensive induction, and a high profile showcase appearance at Manchester Jazz Festival.
The scheme is open to all artists living and working within the North who meet the key criteria. Artists wishing to apply to the scheme should visit the Jazz North website for more information and guidance on how to apply.
“Opening the application portal is an exciting time of year for us. We are always delighted by the quality and creativity of northern jazz artists. The northern line scheme is an opportunity for us to spotlight a selection of artists from the dynamic northern jazz scene and share with a wider audience.” – Nigel Slee, Creative Director, Jazz North
The newly recruited roster will be announced in the Spring and will cover the touring period between 1 September 2017 and 31 December 2018. The current touring roster of Northern Line artists are available for bookings with subsidised performance fees until 31 December 2017.
