Songwriters Billy Bragg and Joe Henry recently joined forces to create an album recorded on and inspired by the American railroad. Beginning in Chicago en route to Los Angeles, the pair recorded train songs composed and recorded by the likes of Lead Belly, Woody Guthrie and The Carter Family, using the waiting rooms and platforms as their recording spaces before re-boarding the train.
They discussed the album at length with American Songwriter ahead of their UK tour this November. Listen to the first release from the LP below.
