Jazz pianist Robert Glasper is an artist responsible for jazz music’s prevailing importance in the 21st century. The past twelve months have seen him contribute to Kendrick Lamar’s wildly successful sophomore studio album, To Pimp a Butterfly, score Don Cheadle’s renowned Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead and release a new album of Davis reworks entitled Everything’s Beautiful, featuring such artists as Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder and Hiatus Kaiyote. He tips a hat to the roots of modern jazz with his acoustic trio, and demonstrates fusion and progression with his forward-thinking electric outfit, Robert Glasper Experiment.
