Five inspirations: Krust

Next week sees Krust come to Band on the Wall alongside fellow Bristolian and Full Cycle co-founder Roni Size, as they celebrate the relaunch of the the record label with a run of UK shows. Beginning in the late ’80s with Fresh 4, Krust established himself as a creative producer in the burgeoning Bristol scene, before making an impact in Drum ‘n’ Bass, with a string of 12″ releases on V Recordings. In 1994, he teamed up with Roni Size for the first time to produce Witchcraft, prior to the pair forming Full Cycle Records and the Reprazent collective.

Ahead of the night, Krust picks us five tunes that inspired his early music making. From a touchstone hip hop duo to a group that brought synthesized music to an international audience, it’s a broad and interest selection of tracks. Take a listen below.
