Drum, sing, play instruments, dance, make new friends. A great Saturday project for young people aged 11-18 from Jubacana supported by Brighter Sound at Band on the Wall
A series of 10 afternoons of carnival drumming, music making and fun for young people aged 11-18. Led by the young leaders of Manchester based Jubacana at Band on the Wall, supported by a team of great musicians, drummers and dancers and directed by Holly Prest and youth director Emma (15). No experience necessary, just loads of friendly energy and enthusiasm!
These accessible workshops will pass on some of the most exciting mass drum techniques of Brazil on a wide variety of traditional Northeast-Brazilian percussion instruments (all provided) as well as offering opportunities to play drum kit, guitars, keyboards, and sing. Bring along any other instruments you play to add to the mix, brass, wind, strings, mouth-organ or mandolin! Infectious rhythms, melodic instruments and voices will join together to create a formidable youth sound like no other!
Full course dates: 16, 23, 30 Jan. 6, 13, 27 Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 Mar.
Times: 1-3pm EXCEPT on 6 Feb and 5 Mar when times are 1-2.30pm
Price: £4 per session (or whatever you can afford)
