Any Dark Night ft. Rivet City, The Buskers Sons, Jonny Oates Band & Pomona
10 April / 19:30 / More Info / Buy Tickets
Band on the Wall has a long history presenting young bands, with the New Manchester Review and Showcase Well North of London. Any Dark Night continues this tradition, giving flourishing young acts the opportunity to play at the venue, and reach a new audience. Each night presents four of the region’s newest acts, and is just £6 in!
Topping the bill is Rivet City, a Manchester five piece formerly known as Albino Gorilla. Their sharp, rhythmic sound goes shoulder to shoulder with many great indie groups currently on people’s radar.
The Busker’s Sons hail from Macclesfield, and since playing Kraak Gallery have established themselves as a group making moves in Manchester. Their latest tunes ‘Hubris’ and ‘Mismatch’ show their talent for slowly building a groove with layered guitars, as well as switching up with a more distorted and raucous sound.
The Jonny Oates Band introduce saxophone and keyboards to Jonny Oates folk rooted, Springsteen influenced songs, giving them jazz and rock flavour. They’ve been recording recently, and already have a strong backlogue of songs, as well as as some eclectic covers.
Manchester post punk group Pomona, formerly known as ExitStrategy, take influence from British music of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s post punk scene. Acts like Joy Division and The Cure inform their sound, and their latest single ‘Cemeteries’ showcases their ability to deviate away from the sound of their influences too.
