Singer/songwriter JD McPherson makes vintage-sounding rock with nods to ‘40s R&B, blues, and ‘50s rockabilly.
An Oklahoma native, JD McPherson is an artist who’s sound encompasses all the music he loves. Predominantly based on his love of roots, rhythm ’n’ blues and rockabilly, McPherson also lets his love of classic rock, hip hop and pop infuse his writing and recording.
His 2012 debut, “Signs & Signifiers”, recorded with truly vintage gear, at Jimmy Sutton’s home studio in Chicago was “laced with subtle, symphonic Sam Cooke stylings” (BBC) and received rave reviews.
Following the stylistic path laid by his critically acclaimed debut album Signs & Signifiers, McPherson has just released The Warm Covers, a four-song digital EP. A full sophomore record from McPherson is expected in 2015.
JD McPherson’s music is a rockabilly time machine, bringing some of the purest rock ’n’ roll vibes straight from the genre’s birth and into the present day, he is an artist not to be missed.
