The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival has again been nominated in the British Blues Awards – and organisers want to make it two in a row!

But to do so, they need your vote! Colne’s annual event has been nominated in the Best British Blues Festival category. Now it is up to the public to choose their favourites. To place your vote, go to www.britishbluesawards.com

The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at Newark Castle during Newark Blues Festival on Sunday, 9th September. Colne’s festival is up against five other festivals in the Best British Blues Festival category – Blues On The Farm, Carlisle Blues Festival, Maryport Blues Festival, Newark Blues Festival and Hebden Bridge Blues Festival. The closing date is Tuesday, July 31st.

This August Bank Holiday weekend the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival celebrates a whopping 23 years of bringing the Blues to Colne!

With more than 600 artistes performing at nine official venues over four days, this annual event is believed to be the biggest of its kind in this country and the second biggest in Europe! Over the last two decades the festival has welcomed the crème-de-la-crème of Blues talent and the calibre continues for 2012, with such popular and well-known names as Booker T Jones, Joan Armatrading, The Blues Band and the Ben Waters Band lined-up to play this year.
