Pianist/composer Kit Downes exploded on to the British Jazz scene playing with the band Empirical and then with his other ongoing project Troyka and also Fraud and Acoustic Ladyland. Now, two years on, Kit has moved on to his own trio project and is joined by two long-time friends - award-winning bassist Calum Gourlay and rising drum star James Maddren. Their sound is immediately arresting with inspirations drawn from sources ranging from Bela Bartok and Keith Jarrett to Rufus Wainwright and endeavours to both celebrate the classic piano trio tradition and develop it in to new musical territory.
