Our Venues

Inner City Music operates a unique collection of venues and creative spaces that enable us to present exceptional music from around the world, support artists at every stage of their careers, and deliver a wide range of learning and community programmes.

Following a major capital redevelopment in 2019, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the venue expanded significantly to include new performance spaces, education suites, rehearsal rooms and studios. This investment transformed Band on the Wall into one of the UK’s leading hubs for live music, creative learning and artist development.

As a charitable organisation, we also operate the bars, kitchens and hospitality offer across our sites. Every ticket purchased, pint poured and pizza served helps generate income that is reinvested into our artistic, educational and community programmes.

Band on the Wall

Our historic, award-winning and internationally renowned flagship venue is a state-of-the-art 500-capacity performance space, equipped with professional sound, lighting and production facilities. Hosting internationally acclaimed artists alongside emerging talent, it sits at the heart of Manchester’s live music scene and remains one of the city’s most important cultural venues.

The Copper Bar

Opened as part of our redevelopment project, The Copper Bar is a flexible 150-capacity venue dedicated to showcasing emerging artists, grassroots talent and new creative work. Fully equipped to professional performance standards, it provides a vital stepping stone for artists developing their live careers and enables audiences to discover the next generation of talent.

The Rose & Monkey

Located next door to Band on the Wall, The Rose & Monkey is a characterful and intimate 50-capacity venue and community pub. It hosts acoustic performances, new artist showcases, informal DJ nights, workshops and community events, creating opportunities for experimentation, collaboration and connection in a relaxed setting. The venue also includes accommodation and outdoor space, further enhancing our ability to host artists and deliver activity across our estate.

Learning & Creative Spaces

Above our venues sits a dedicated suite of education, rehearsal and studio spaces that are home to our World of Music programme, artist development activity and community projects. Designed to the highest standards of accessibility and safeguarding, these spaces enable thousands of people each year to learn, create, rehearse and collaborate through music.

Together, these spaces allow us to support artists from their first performance through to international touring, while creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience, make and enjoy music.
