World of Song Celebration Event June 2026

World of Song brought together refugees, asylum seekers and new migrants to explore this living heritage through music over a series of six projects. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and delivered in partnership with Community Arts North West (CAN), these programmes drew on CAN’s deep connections with communities across the city, ensuring that participants’ voices and experiences were at its heart. 

We celebrated the success of this project in June 2026 at Band on the Wall, which included a special screening of ‘The Song We Carry’ directed by Tamana Ayazi, as well as performances from artists involved in our Spotlight Artist Development Scheme.
