DESCRIPTION:After an exclusive and intimate show at Band on the Wall in 2024\, Lady Blackbird is heading back to Manchester\, bringing her new record\, Slang Spirituals\, to The Bridgewater Hall in 2025.

After recently making her welcomed return\, which included a thrilling performance as part of Chaka Khan’s Meltdown Festival at London’s Southbank Centre last month\, as well as a sold out residency at Los Angeles’ Sun Rose on Sunset Strip. Today\, Lady Blackbird makes her extremely welcome return with brand new studio album.

Featuring powerful offerings in ‘Reborn’\, Man On A Boat’ and the BBC Radio 2\, BBC Radio 6 and Jazz FM playlisted track ‘Let Not (Your Heart Be Troubled)\, the new record is ‘A compelling showcase for a truly magnetic soul-jazz voice’ (Record Collector).

Collaborating once again with Black Acid Soul producer Chris Seefried\, the pair produce a second album that not only embodies the freewheeling\, emotive Lady Blackbird sound\, but that also taps into deeply vulnerable lyrics that recount the singer’s challenging ascent to musical stardom. 

Lady Blackbird will be supported by GeeJay. Gee (vocalist) and Jay (producer) met while working as baristas in a London music café\, quickly developing a distinctive sound that blends Gee’s soulful vocals with Jay’s jazzy\, groovy rhythms and saxophone. After two successful EPs and over 12 million streams\, they relocated to Bournemouth during lockdown. Following the birth of their child in July 2023\, they completed their debut album What's the Sun Without the Rain?\, with recording sessions occasionally interrupted by the baby’s cries\, adding a raw depth to the music. The lead single\, DQUOTEStronger Than You Think\,DQUOTE has gained support from BBC Radio 1 and 2\, with the full album set for release on May 28th\, 2024.
