Jack Bruce, Band on the Wall, Manchester, 24th March 2011
Information

"A man who has always lead from the front - when he was at RSAMD he was told told to stop playing jazz gigs - so he left the academy and set off on his own and redefined the electric bass. Not many people do things like that.
We met before the concert and I gave him a photograph of Charles Mingus' bass - the beautiful carved Barbary lion head (you can see elsewhere in this store.)
He's a pretty feisty character, I guess he's met every imaginable type of person being on the road for around 50 years. He asked me who had the bass - I replied it was with Linda Mingus (Charles' widow) when the band played in Glasgow.
I've played bass since I was 15 - Jack Bruce has been a musical hero to me all this time - he fulfilled every expectation that night on and off stage." William Ellis 2011
