"The bass was played that night with the Mingus Big Band in the presence of Mr. Mingus' widow Sue and the atmosphere was joyful and electric as the band swaggered exuberantly through the set like a fleet of listing galleons.
This was taken with the instrument laid on stage with a Leica and 35mm lens.
I gave a print to Jack Bruce a few months when did his great gig at BotW.
He asked me who had the bass when the picture was taken, so I told him the story" William Ellis, 2011
