Craig Charles returns for another night of Funk n Soul prestige, with great live music and a DJ set from the man himself. This month’s live act are Jungle By Night.
The 9-piece band, who were praised by Afrobeat legend Tony Allen for their progression of afrobeat, focus on the grooves of African and American music, be it afro-funk, hip hop, soul or rock. Having teamed up with African musicians like Ebo Taylor and Mulatu Astatke as well as modern innovators like Gaslamp Killer, the bands diversity and creativity cannot be underestimated. Having played live with many of these acts, and supported The Roots and Mayer Hawthorne they have shown their pedigree on the largest stages.
With their latest studio album incorporation the influence of Jamaican dub, and featuring synths and dubbed trumpets, their sound is diversifying, while retaining the groove at it’s core.
As ever, Craig Charles takes to the stage to deliver another fine DJ set, with an assortment of great funk and soul as well as a few other popular numbers that are guaranteed floor fillers.
