THE BREADWINNERS
+ VERY SPECIAL GUESTS

Band on the Wall celebrates 80 years since the granting of the building's (back then the George & Dragon pub) first recorded music licence with a free entry evening of live music and DJs from our favourite artists and friends of the venue.

Performing live will be Denis Jones, the Mancunian artist who blends beautiful acoustic guitar playing with cutting edge electronic elements, utilising loop stations, samplers and effects units to create a signature sound that is instantly recognisable as his own. Denis has performed live at Band on the Wall on a number of occasions and we're really excited to have him back for this special night.

Also on the bill is Hot Botz Brass Band - a band described as a live mix of drum & bass and "filth brass", they take the New Orleans school of brass band jazz, crank up the volume and give it some Mancunian attitude.

Special guests are The Breadwinners (Bakery Studios, Manchester) whose pure roots, heavy Jamaican vibe, vintage analogue sound harks back to Lee Scratch Perry's golden period at the Black Ark Studio in Kingston, Jamaica.

We'll also be inviting some of our favourite DJs to bring a selection of their choice tunes to spin late into the night.

Thats not all of course, as in our Picturehouse bar we'll be running a series of intimate acoustic performances, with live sets from some of our favoruite acoustic singer/songwriters, including Stefan Melbourne, Tim & Robi and Taylor & the Mason.

Come along and celebrate with us this historical moment in the story of Manchester's iconic venue.
