BIOGRAPHY

THE JADID ENSEMBLE are a unique group of UK based musicians who have a passion for the music of other nations and cultures. Their individual training in either flamenco, Indian or Arabic musics has given these musicians a much wider range of influences on which to draw. ‘Jadid ensemble’ simply translates as ‘the new ensemble’ yet the word ‘jadid’ has been extensively applied to Arabic musics which break away from the historical traditions (or music of the ‘qadim’). The classical and jazz backgrounds within the group allow for traditional melodic styles to be reworked into something fresh and new.

The debut album ‘Sigh of the Moor’ is an atmospheric journey through Spain to the middle-east and beyond.

The Jadid ensemble, formed by guitarist and composer Glenn Sharp, is an instrumental group based in Northwest England. The group consists of five musicians and the album features instruments including Flamenco guitar, oud, Turkish Saz, violin, middle- eastern percussion, flutes, neys and mizmar.

4-piece band from £725 plus VAT*

*Rates are for maximum 90 minutes (1.5 hours) for engagements within 25 miles of Manchester (M1), and exclude:

• expenses (transport, accommodation, subsistence)

*Transport is charged at £0.75 per mile from postcode M1.

5-piece band = 4 vehicles

4-piece band = 3 vehicles

*Rates include technical provision (sound, lighting) for events with maximum 150 guests. Additional equipment may be required for large venues / capacities at an extra charge. Group fees are also available on request.
