Information

Free entry new music night at Band on the Wall featuring some of the best emerging bands from Manchester and beyond.

The launch party features Manchester's finest new shoegaze group The Louche F.C, plus experimental out of the world math rock collective New Hips (ex. Deaf to Van Gogh's Ear) and a rare solo performance from The Modern Painters frontman Daniel Land.

The Louche F.C blend waves of loud, hypnotic shoegaze fuzz with 1950's rock & roll inspired vocal melodies, and have been described as "Roy Orbison covered by Swervedriver".

"Their unique brand of melodic intricate spectral pop absorbs krautrock, post-punk, Sixties pop and shoegaze, while luscious harmonies provide a bright counterpoint to this dense wall of sound." - City Life

New Hips fuse the deconstructed rhythms and screeching melodies of Deerhoof with free jazz inspired rock guitar sections reminiscent of Acoustic Ladyland. Add to that mix a sublime and surprisingly soothing lead vocal and you have a band that really is carving their very own brand of math rock infused future pop.

Daniel Land, songwriter and the brains behind the critically-acclaimed The Modern Painters, creates a unique shoegaze inspired progressive ambient sound that is part minimal, part epic, and wholly engaging. Think Sigur Ros meets Cocteau Twins.

Daniel will be performing alongside a Modern Painters bandmate, playing tracks from their forthcoming second LP that have never been performed before.

"Daniel Land & the Modern Painters make music that is slow and stately, soporific and somnolent, like a sonic cathedral moving majestically through the icy fjörds of the frozen north." - The Guardian
