After incredible shows at Band on the Wall in 2010 Kirsty Almeida and The Troubadours return to tear the roof off the place once more

Almeida bathes in the light of eclecticism, drawing you into her enchanting, uplifting and at times devilishly dark world. Classic songwriting with a wondrous mix of murder lullabies, blues-folk beauty, New Orleans soul, voodoo-tinged-pop and a healthy does of Tim Burton-style brooding.

This songbird has collaborated with the likes of Youth, Mr Scruff and The Guy Barker Orchestra as well as writing and recording music for the films Pategonia and Albatross, both of which will be released this year.

The Mustdashios are no normal dancing duo. They offer a delightfully fresh approach to dance, comedy, and what it is to be a woman on stage. They’re daring and fearless in their choreography, insightful in their image making, and unashamedly grotesque whenever they find the opportunity.

The Dead Man's Waltz are four musicians from the Isle of Skye who are re-imagining their traditions into a style they call 'folk-noir'. Their music traces a path through the dance halls of Weimar Republic Germany, Kurt Weill and Hans Eisler, though Tom Waits and the Pogues to more recent acts such as Yann Tiersen and Beirut.  Lyrically, theirs is the stuff of netherworlds; of small-town crimes, seething menace and hidden romances.  Like the solitary twinkling light coming from the house on the hill, you know you shouldn’t go there, but go there you must. In addition to her new album, Kirsty has written and performed the soundtrack for the new feature film Albatross, starring Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) and Felicity Jones (Chalet Girl). The film will be released in cinemas nationwide on October 14 2011 and Kirsty’s soundtrack will be released in mid October.

This event will begin at 8pm but our Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open for delicious food and drinks from 5.30pm.
