The Oud is one of the world's oldest stringed instruments dating back some 4,000 years and the precursor of the lute and modern guitar. Spread by Islam throughout North Africa and the Middle East it is very much a central instrument in the cultures of these regions as it has been for millennia. The instrument of choice for much Arabesque and African classical composition (a role traditionally taken by the piano in the West), its mysterious and evocative sound and richly textured and feathered tones are utterly compelling to listen to.

Le Trio Joubran consists of Palestinian brothers Samir, Wissam and Adnan Joubran who take the mastership of the fretless Oud to another level altogether. Underpinned by the complex and haunting classical traditions of Oud, the brothers weave into this elements of jazz and Flamenco to stunning effect. Expect an evening of beautiful music that is at once magical, mystical and totally, totally unmissable.
