DAVID WOONTON

David Woonton was invited to join the Board of Inner City Music in 1986, offering experience in finance and music promotion.

Recently retired from the Royal Northern College of Music with 25 years service, in the position of Finance Officer, becoming Management Accountant for the RNCM Arts Centre, also working closely with the Promotions Department on jazz bookings and the RNCM Big Band activities.

Currently working as a freelance accountant, also promoting classical and jazz artistes, based in the North West of England.

Started work at 15 and while studying for Business and Accountancy qualifications, was employed in Accounts Departments for Engineering and Manufacturing companies in Worcester and London. David found an opportunity to travel by joining ‘Thomson Holidays’ as Overseas Accountant, visiting resorts and liaising with local representatives.

David’s other business activities are as Hon. Treasurer to the Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society and Rochdale Music Society.

David’s interests in music cover a broad range, including Classical, Jazz from New Orleans to (some) contemporary and African.  He also enjoys walking on the Lake District fells and visiting interesting places. Spending time with his young grandson also gives him great pleasure.

David lives near Rochdale, close to the Pennine hills, where he gets great pleasure in walking when wishing to ‘switch off’.
