DAVID McCALL
David is an architect, based in Manchester. A director of OMI Architects, which he founded in 1993, David has worked on a number of projects throughout the north west, a number of which have been recognised by national design awards. These include:
- The Chinese Arts Centre, Thomas Street, Manchester
- Fourth Church of Christ Scientist, Peter Street, Manchester
- Boundary Lane, Hulme (a large residential project)
Originally from Aberdeen, David moved to Manchester in 1984 and currently resides in Bramhall with his wife Hazel and three sons. David studied architecture at Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Science first class honours. He also studied for a year at the course Mies Van De Rohe established at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA.
David has acted as an expert witness in connection with accommodation needs resulting from medical negligence cases. In 2003 he acted as expert witness on a protracted fraud case in the High Court involving an architect.
David has played an active role in Manchester’s architectural community. He has had spells teaching at Manchester University, acting as an RIBA external examiner and as an RIBA awards and competition judge. His interests include travelling, music, football (playing and watching) and the theatre.
