Janine Irons
Janine trained as a classical pianist but later studied dance and photography. She worked for 13 years, first as a PA for a major classical music publisher and an international bank, then as a Systems & Premises Manager for an international trading company. In 1994, she left her City job to become a freelance photographer/journalist but it was the work of her partner, jazz double bassist Gary Crosby that inspired her to create and develop her current role.
Through her work in Tomorrow’s Warriors and Dune Music, she has made – and continues to make – a major contribution to increasing cultural and racial diversity in jazz in the UK, and to the ongoing discussions surrounding diversity and access in the arts, helping to keep it on the arts agenda.
