Archive Info
Welcome To Our Archive
This archive is mainly about the music and the musicians -- and your input.
How to use it:
Click on the Archive tab (above) to revisit the past and access our chronological list of previous gigs and the current list of our video excerpts, live from Band on the Wall, that form the core of our archive. As this facility develops you will be able to see more video clips, located on our YouTube and Vimeo pages, as well as more information about prior gigs. You can contribute by adding your comments, photos or videos.
Click on the Artists/Bands A-Z tab (above) to search for specific artists/bands who have performed or are to perform at Band on the Wall. Add your comments and, in some cases, there is information about their recordings, photos and links to videos.
Click on the History tab (above) to see what is a steadily expanding story about Band on the Wall, its cultural context and its development. Later in 2011 we will be adding an expanded section about the 1975-85 decade, a period in which the venue's international credentials were established and when obstacles to its continued existence (the first of a few) were overcome. In addition to text, as we develop the archive there will be photos, copies of Press cuttings, artefacts and publicity materials. We also will include oral history interviews and videos about the venue’s history. We also plan to have a new section about the roller-coaster that was the renovation project 2008-09.
Please peruse and contribute to this section of our website. Remember to Log In or Register (top right of any page) to get the most from our website. Comments and contributions: email ian@bandonthewall.org
The development of this archive is made possible through the support of Heritage Lottery Fund and Manchester City Council.
